The Fine Water Vault

Curated by the standards of Master Water Sommeliers

What is a Water Sommelier?

A Water Sommelier is a certified specialist who understands the deep nuances, terroir, and mineral composition of fine bottled waters. Much like a wine sommelier evaluates the climate and soil of a vineyard, a water sommelier studies a water's geological journey—whether it has been filtered through volcanic rock over centuries or harvested from ancient, untouched polar icebergs.

They evaluate water based on its TDS (Total Dissolved Solids), pH levels, virginality (protection from surface pollution), and mouthfeel. Water sommeliers expertly curate menus for fine-dining establishments, pairing specific waters with food and wine. For example, a super-low TDS water clears the palate for delicate dishes, while a high-mineral water can complement rich, hearty flavors. Their goal is to elevate hydration into a profound epicurean experience.
